Description

The Moses Pole is a monopod that allows the steadicam operator a breather between takes.  a must have tool for every Steadicam® operator, camera assistant and dolly grip.

We offer 4 types of Moses Poles:  Telescoping 2 hole (highly recommended!), Telescoping 5 hole (more options but a lot slower to set up), 2 Piece Fixed & 3 Piece Fixed.  The fixed poles are convenient for shipping as they can be broken down into smaller sections but are not as convenient for work.  I absolutely love the Telescoping 2 hole Moses Pole.  As a camera assistant, the telescoping 2 hole with the sling allows me to carry the pole on my back & have 2 hands free to do my other tasks.  When the steadi op is ready for a break, i just pop that thing off my back & boom, he’s got somewhere to dock.  The fixed poles invariably get left back at the stand or the cart rendering them useless.  The telescoping pole conveniently travels with your assistant or dolly grip so that it’s always there when you need it.  I know it costs more but it’s worth it b/c it’s always there.  You can save a couple hundred on the fixed poles but they won’t be around when its break time.

The Moses Pole can use whichever fork fits your rig: 1.5″, 1.75″, 2″ & the new volt fork.  please add whichever size fork you need to your cart.

We also sell the Moses Dock Kit which is basically a baby pin adapter & a safety pin.  Purchase an additional fork & this kit will transform that fork into a much more affordable docking station for your camera cart or your stand.  You’ll save hundreds of dollars & your rig will be just as secure as the more expensive set-ups.

sling sold separately.

It’s only on certain shoot types I really use the Moses pole, but for those, I’m so grateful to have it. If it’s a long take where you wind up ending waaaaay far from where you start…it’s great. Or on certain documentary type shoots where you find yourself far away from your cart or stand, for long and/or indeterminate lengths of time. I have the extendable one, which I figured would be most convenient for the grip/AC or whoever is carrying it. The shoulder sling really is helpful, being a great hands-free way to carry it.
