Due to popular demand, we are now offering both solid & tubular custom posts as well as stainless steel. There has been some discussion on the steadicam forum about aluminum vs. stainless steel, solid vs. hollow. Obviously, solid posts are stronger than tubes and stainless is stronger than aluminum, so order accordingly. Use aluminum tubes at your own risk.
Stainless steel is offered under the first choice as a “color.” Yes, we know its not a color but due to product variation limitations in the code, that’s the way it has to be done. SS posts/tubes cannot be anodized. They only come as stainless steel.
We now offer 4 versions of the Steadicam Custom Post. All 4 versions come with one locking pin:
- We have 5/8″ posts with BOTH perpendicular and parallel holes as of march 2024.
- We also have a 3/4″ bracket with both parallel & perpendicular holed posts.
- Our newest offset: a 1/2″ bracket parallel holed posts for smaller rigs.
Custom length posts are available in 2 inch increments @ $10/inch except for the stainless steel posts which are $15/inch.
If you want an odd length post, just order the next post longer & put in the notes the length you want. If you want a 5″ post, order a 6″ post & note it.
Some people have requested posts with different diameters at each end. We offer Steadicam Reducer Posts as well.

Stainless steel ones feels very solid, obviously a bit heavier but nothing in comparison of the peace of mind they offer! Hehe
