Steadicam Reducer Post, two diameters, one post, built to your exact spec. $120–$820, free shipping.
Sometimes your arm and your gimbal don’t speak the same diameter. Maybe you’re running a GPI G70x arm into a ZeeGee gimbal. Maybe you picked up a different arm than the one your rig was originally built around. Whatever the mismatch, the solution used to be a stack of adapters or a compromise you just lived with. The Clean’s Steadicam Reducer Post is the cleaner answer, a single solid post machined with a different diameter on each end, so your arm side and gimbal side each get exactly what they need.
Daniel Fritz put it simply: “It’s working fantastic on my G70x arm to the ZeeGee.” That’s the whole use case in one sentence.
⚠️ No returns on custom orders. Every Steadicam Reducer Post is machined to your exact configuration, verify your arm-side and gimbal-side diameters before ordering.
How to spec yer Steadicam Reducer Post:
Material & Color
Aluminum is available in 8 anodized colors: Black, Red, Blue, Gold, Green, Orange, Gun Metal, and Pink. Stainless steel is also available, select it in the color dropdown where it reads “Stainless Steel.” SS posts are raw stainless, not anodized, and priced at roughly double the aluminum rate to account for machining. If you’re running a heavier rig or want maximum peace of mind, stainless is the right call.
Note: Steadicam Reducer Post are solid only. No tube option, the machining required to step the diameter on a hollow post isn’t viable. If you need a tube post, the standard Steadicam Custom Post is what you want.
Gimbal Side Diameter & Length
Four diameter options: 15mm, ½″, ⅝″, and ¾″. Lengths from 2″ to 16″ in 2″ increments. The gimbal side is typically the longer section of the post, this is the end that runs through your center section into the gimbal.
Arm Side Diameter & Length
Same four diameter options. Arm side lengths are 2″ or 4″, the arm side is the shorter end, just enough to seat properly in the arm socket. Pick a different diameter than the gimbal side and you’ve got your reducer.
Length customization: need an odd length? Order the next size up in the dropdown and leave a note at checkout with the exact spec. If you need a 5″ gimbal side, order 6″ and note it, we’ll machine it to that length.
End Options
Same end options as the Custom Post:
- None, standard flat end.
- Threaded for Zephyr, ¼″-20 threaded hole for Zephyr arm operators.
- Hollow for docking pin, open end so the post can hang directly on the arm pin of your dock.
Choose which end gets the modification: arm side or gimbal side.
All ⅝″ and ¾″ posts come with both parallel and perpendicular holes. Every reducer post ships with one locking pin. Covered by the lifetime repair policy, USA-machined, send it back any time, fixed at a modest price.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Steadicam Reducer Post:
What’s the difference between this and the Custom Post?
The Custom Post is one diameter end to end. The Reducer Post has a different diameter on each end, arm side and gimbal side are spec’d independently. Use the Reducer Post when your arm and gimbal don’t share the same post diameter.
Can I get a tube version?
No. Reducer posts are solid only. The stepped machining required to reduce diameter isn’t compatible with a hollow/tube construction. For tube posts, see the Steadicam Custom Post.
Why is this priced higher than the Custom Post?
Two reasons: the stepped machining takes longer and costs more, and stainless steel adds additional machining expense on top of that. A stainless reducer post is priced at roughly double the aluminum reducer rate.
What if I need an odd length?
Order the next 2″ increment up and leave a note at checkout with your exact measurement. We’ll machine it to spec.
Can I return it if I ordered the wrong spec?
No, custom orders are non-returnable. If there’s any confusion about your spec before the order ships, reach out through the Contact page and we’ll sort it out. And if something goes wrong on our end, we make it right, as Zachary C. found out: “David and his team made it right and in a timely fashion.”
