The Preston Handunit Base is inspired by the Arri WCU-4 Hand Unit Stand, but built for the Preston Single Channel. Drop yer hand unit in vertically or at about a 70° angle, and it sits clean, accessible, and exactly where you left it.
Works on carts, tables, video village, anywhere you need a clean parking spot for the hand unit. The base footprint is compact enough that it doesn’t take over yer workspace.
One reviewer bought four for a project. The DP on that same project saw them and wanted three. That’s the kind of endorsement that doesn’t fit in a star rating, it just happens organically when the product is right.
This is the stand only. The Single Channel Plate is sold separately.
Dimensions: 4″ × 3″ × .75″ · Weight: 8 oz
Frequently Asked Questions about the Preston Handunit Base:
Which Preston hand units does this work with?
The Preston HU3 and the Preston Single Channel. Select the right variant at checkout. For the HU3, HU4, and other hand unit systems, the Rosie Handunit Bracket is the better option, it covers a wider range of systems.
Does it come with the Single Channel Plate?
No, the Single Channel Plate is sold separately.
Can I use it at video village as well as on my cart?
Absolutely, the compact footprint makes it useful anywhere you need to park a hand unit. One reviewer specifically mentioned using it as a DIT, buying four for a single production for use at their station.
Does it tilt or just go vertical?
Both, you can place the hand unit vertically or at approximately a 70° angle in the base. The angled position is what most people prefer for accessibility.

Fast and reliable.
Best cradle system I’ve encountered. As a DIT, I bought 4 for a project and the DoP now wants 3. Guess I’ll be buying more shortly.
